These traditions find their expression in the deli's small and simple eat-in menu - highlights of which include the penne pesto (handmade pasta with the freshest homemade pesto) and the truly memorable spaghetti carbonara, which is made with guanciale (cured pork cheek) rather than pancetta, giving the dish an extra richness and depth of flavour. Other lunch favourites include delicious piadine, a stuffed flatbread that is typical to the Romagna region.
Four high tables are squeezed in amongst shelves stacked with Italian imports and there's an enticing cold counter packed with an excellent choice of cheeses and hams and a fridge filled with pots and packets of irresistible pestos and other sauces to take home. If you are lucky you may manage to nab one of the three small tables in front of Mafiosi and the neighbouring boutique wine store Wine Cellar. Otherwise everything that's on the menu can be ordered to takeaway.
