As Three2Six's children prepare to go back to class in June, we have joined forces to ask our readers to help buy masks for every child to be able to safely return to school. For just R45 you can buy three masks for a refugee child made and delivered by Rowdy Bags!
For the past 12 years, the Three2Six project, based at Sacred Heart College, Holy Family College and Observatory Girls’ Primary School, have been helping refugee children in Johannesburg find a safe place to learn. Every day from 3pm to 6pm Three2Six hosts school lessons for 225 refugee children who due to their status as refugees are not able to access a regular school environment.
Through the programme children recovering from trauma receive education, emotional support and the necessary preparation to enter a normal school environment, as well as school uniforms and meals. During lockdown Three2Six have been innovating to provide lessons and stimulation at home for their 225 students through whatsapp and via pre-recorded lessons broadcast on the Catholic radio station Radio Veritas.
Now as the children prepare to go back to class in June, Three2Six are asking for support to ensure that all 225 learners have a mask to wear. For R45 you can help a refugee child safely go back to school with their own masks!
