This is the restaurant, club house and bar of the impressive Steyn City Golf Course, part of a new residential and lifestyle estate built by South African tycoon Douw Steyn.

Made of glass and brick Nineteen has a green planted roof that blends into its magnificent surroundings and is set amid the 18-hole championship Jack Nicklaus design course. Of course there is an ‘a la cart menu’.

Service here is top-notch. Staff have all done a stint at luxury The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa (also owned by Steyn). This might be Joburg’s priciest round of golf, but your meal won’t break the bank. Enjoy casual dishes served in generous portions, including a delicious towering burger, traditional Cobb salad and specialities such as excellent seared salmon, seafood risotto and sumac crusted Springbok loin.

For sundowners enjoy the bar snack menu and a range of cocktails while you look over sweeping views of the course set along the Jukskei River.
