Urban farming is on the rise in Joburg and on Honest Travel Experience's food and farming-focused Organic Vegan Experience in Bertrams and Bez Valley (east of the Joburg City Centre), you will get to see and experience the city's organic farming renaissance in action.

The tour takes in the unique and colourful history of this historic area of Joburg and includes visits to local community organic farms where the urban farmers share their expertise. A particular highlight for anybody with an interest in gardening is an introduction to how to start your own organic kitchen garden at home.

The tour also includes a delicious (and healthy) organic vegan meal cooked with produce from one of the farms by local chef Noni who will share her passion for healthy eating and following a Slow Food diet. 

The four-hour tour takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 14:00-18:00 and costs R390 per person, which includes lunch, a fresh juice and transport.
