Wits Art Museum (WAM) in Braamfontein presents a new exhibition exploring the art of landscape cinematography by photographer Zen Marie. Marie's Paradise Fallen series is a work in process, ongoing for 10 years that was started during the artist's multiple residencies at the RAW Material Company in Dakar, Senegal. The first iterations of the series focused on footage developed in and around the islands off the peninsula of Dakar.

In Paradise Fallen: Blaxis, Marie captures the landscapes around the Karoo’s Valley of Desolation and the Maloti-UKhahlamba-Drakensberg Mountain range in South Africa. A meditation on landscapes, this body of work highlights the natural beauty of these landscapes and acknowledges the history and forgotten narratives attached to them.

Visits to WAM are free but must be booked in advance. Book online here or call +27 11 717 71358 / +27 11 717 1365, or email info.wam@wits.ac.za. Note the exhibition is closed on Tue Sep 21, 2021. WAM is open 10:00–16:00, closed Sun, Mon.
