On warm evenings the pretty courtyard garden at this self-declared “cute AF” 44 Stanley cafe-bar is an ideal spot for a cocktail or two before catching a movie at The Bioscope independent cinema across the way. Alternatively on sunny weekend afternoons take a break here after exploring 44 Stanley’s boutiques and enjoy the free jazz performances. Chef Jes Doveton serves up a small and inventive menu based around far-eastern Asian flavours (particularly Thai), including highly snackable crispy tempura and vegetarian fritters spiked with kimchi and gruyere. For dessert the deep fried cookie dough is a must.
