Cape Town brand Pichulik is the creation of Katherine-Mary Pichulik who inadvertently became an accessories designer after lots of admiring comments and glances were sent her way in response to some sculpted rope jewellery pieces she made for herself.

A Fine Arts graduate and a qualified patissier she returned from travelling to India and Spain where she had collected all sorts of unique objects that she then wove into her jewellery designs.

A Pichulik neckpiece is a bold statement piece, made from coloured ropes and metal or jewelled fittings that can include found materials such as fossilised pieces from Niger, West African brass, Ghanaian agate and recycled glass from Ethiopia.

Since its launch in 2012 the range has expanded to include bracelets, earrings and handbags and a capsule collection of hand-made resort wear from hand-dyed hemp.

Made or sourced in Africa, and produced in a studio in Woodstock, Cape Town, Pichulik is a local luxury brand whose pieces have found their way across the globe to stockists that include Selfridges in London.

At the 44 Stanley store (in Milpark, between Braamfontein and Melville) Pichulik shares space with Lady Bonin’s tea, also a Cape Town-based label that got its start in a caravan, probably a world first. Stock up on an exciting range of organic loose leaf teas while there.
