August House is a downtown Art Deco-era building that is home to the studios of more than thirty exciting contemporary artists from all over Africa. This month August House teams up with the Absa Gallery to present Talking To Deaf Ears, a group exhibition featuring works by August House's extraordinary roster of artists including major names like South Africa's Sam Nhlengethwa and Ugandan visual artist Benon Lutaaya.

Curated by Sarah McGee (director of M Studio Community Gallery), Talking to Deaf Ears explores the methods and modes of communication in a contemporary South African socio-political climate where the public’s voice is increasingly ignored or unheard, and asks the question; “how much of what is communicated in our society is understood or acted upon?”
