The Night of Ideas - I am visible, therefore I am alive
Thursday Jan 30 18:00
19-21 Keyes Ave, Rosebank
The Night of Ideas (La Nuit des Idées) returns to Johannesburg again this year with the support of the French Institute of South Africa. The global initiative sees cities all across the world, host concurrent debates led by prominent intellectuals, researchers and creatives on a chosen theme. This year's theme is "Being Alive" and for the Johannesburg discussion, hosted at Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank, the dialogue centres around visibility.
The panel discussion is moderated by renowned journalist and trustee of the UP Javett Arts Centre Michelle Constant with guests, contemporary artist Gabrielle Goliath, filmmaker Arya Lalloo and founder of the inspirational organisation African Teen Geeks, Lindiwe Matlali, discussing what visibility means in the digital age and how factors of poverty, gender and age can mean that many communities and voices become marginalised and remain largely invisible.
Entrance to the 2020 Night of Ideas discussion if free but booking is essential. To attend RSVP online here.
