Tonic

  32 7th St, Linden      +27 87 238 4623     06 Mar 2019

This bar is a celebration of all things gin. A welcoming and unpretentious spot in Linden, on the menu are cocktails, more cocktails, craft gin & tonics and some tasty small plates that do not in any way overshadow the big drinks selection.

The signature gin & tonic combinations are racy and include the spicy Orient with Step 5, D’Light, a combination of Musgrave pink gin, tonic and Turkish delight and the Mother Fluffer, a showy drink of gin, tonic, candy floss and toasted marshmallow. This one is more of a novelty but you’ll look like you are having fun drinking it.

Johannesburg might well be renamed Ginhannesburg as a crop of new distillers are making a name for their local gins, while globally the drink known as Mother’s Ruin is also a chart topper.

The gin even finds its way onto the menu which has been thoughtfully designed by Romuald Denesle of A la Bouffe, Linden’s French restaurant and a neighbour to the bar.

Tonic is the result of a number of successful gin market stands created by a husband and wife duo. The plan is to host many gin pairings and tastings, and to find multiple ways to help you experience and enjoy your gin.

With it's casual feel, and its location next to a number of Linden's popular restaurant's we predict it won't be long before this spot is a favoured neighbourhood hangout. We suggest you take the message tiled into the doorway seriously: "Good vibes only."
