An extremely well developed system of trams and buses operated by the wonderfully named ZTM providing a simple and fast way of getting around Katowice and its surrounding towns, now all part of the Silesian Metropolis. The tickets for the network are valid for both buses and trams. A three-zone system is used, of which Katowice is in zone-one and Chorzów in zone-two. Accordingly, a one-zone ticket is required for the former and a two-zone ticket for travelling between the two. A one-zone ticket costs 3.40zł and now also serves as a 20 min ticket allowing you to swap forms of transport (bus to tram and onto a different tram for instance) within that time period. A two-zone ticket costs 4zł and also serves as a 40 min ticket. There is also a three-zone/ 90 min ticket available for 5zł. For extended stays/trips across the entire metropolitan area, a 10zł 24hr paper ticket can be purchased from machines, and a non-personalised urban travel card (ŚKUP) can be purchased (temporarily with 5zł deposit) in the ZTM Passenger Services in the main train station or next to the main square (Rynek) at ul. Pocztowa 11. This allows for 7 day travel (44zł normal, 22zł reduced), though it's hard to imagine getting your money's worth out of this without spending the whole week on the tram.

Almost all travel within Katowice and Chorzów can be accomplished using trams, most of which run through the new stops on the Rynek. Tram no.s 6, 11 and 19 run between the Rynek and Chorzów via Silesia Park and are the most useful trams for getting there and back. Tickets can be bought from any kiosk, or from bright yellow machines found at many tram stops around the area. Make sure you validate your ticket when entering the tram or bus. The penalty for riding without a validated ticket is 90zł (plus the price of the ticket) on the spot. (The normal price of the fine if you pay within 7 days is 125zł plus the price of the ticket.)

Hi Andrea, There are two villages with the name 'Milówka' in Poland, however, as you are travelling to Katowice, I will assume you are travelling to the one in the Silesian region! The easiest way to get there is to travel by regional train form Katowice's main train station. To get to the station, there is a direct shuttle bus from the airport (or taxi service, if you prefer) to the local bus terminal, which is located under the train station (the local shopping mall, Galeria Katowicka, actually incorporates the train station and bus station in one). Once you arrive by bus on level -1, you simply go up to the ground level and to the train station's main hall from where you will find all train platforms. The Silesian regional train service is called 'Koleje Śląskie', which you can buy tickets for from the ticket office or ticket machines, or if you prefer, online via the awesome e-podróżnik service - here you can check the train times and prices: https://en.e-podroznik.pl I hope this helps.
