A small monument commemorating the brutal torture and murder of an estimated 70 or so Jewish men that took place on this spot on June 27, 1941 during the first few days of the Nazi occupation of the city. Carried out exclusively by Lithuanians and attracting a cheering local crowd, the event famously saw one of the killers stand on top of the pile of bodies and play the Lithuanian national anthem on an accordion. Find it under a tree in a courtyard just off the street and don't forget to leave a stone.
