A two-act tragicomedy

The play is based on the piece The Locusts, written by modern Serbian writer Biljana Srbljanovic. She recreates the post-soviet reality by using creative tools of post-soviet artists. The director, together with his team, seek to find the core of the author’s work in the context of the Eastern European culture, social life and theatre. We often hear talks about the contemporary dramaturgy and The Locusts is a great example of it. The dramaturgy is presented in a form of a daily life, instead of sad fantasies. The Locusts focuses on conflicts between different generations within the same family. The older generation is worried about the future, while the children are afraid of getting old and dying. Incapability to love and understand the closest people around is what unifies monologues and dialogues of both generations.
