Composer Zita Bružaitė, a native and resident of Kaunas, has written quite a lot of music for children: besides many instrumental compositions, her oeuvre also includes solo songs, choral songs and operas for kids, such as The Mushroom War and Peace and Spider’s Wedding. Several generations of performers and listeners grew up listening to the music from these operas. This semi-staged family concert offers a selection of the loveliest songs by Bružaitė in the performance of well-known singing actors, Aistė Lasytė and Dominykas Vaitiekūnas, and three different choral groups from the Vilnius School of Choral Singing “Liepaitės.” All singers will be accompanied by a large instrumental ensemble under the baton of Modestas Barkauskas, artistic director and conductor of the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius Municipality, who has considerable experience working with young musicians.
