Kaunas String Quartet: Karolina Beinarytė-Palekauskienė (1st violin), Aistė Mikutytė (2nd violin), Eglė Lapinskė (viola), Saulius Bartulis (cello)
Gabrielė Beinarytė (harp)

The concert “Harp Sonorities” presents young harpist Gabrielė Beinarytė in the company of the Kaunas String Quartet. Harp is one of the most ancient musical instruments whose origins are associated with many legends. Before it acquired the present-day shape, it underwent a long evolution. This concert offers a splendid opportunity to get to know this regal and yet somewhat exotic instrument.
The programme features one of the best known and frequently performed works in the repertoire for harp, Debussy’s Danse sacrée et danse profane for harp and strings. It will also include a nocturne by Mikalojus Konstantins Čiurlionis arranged for solo harp, his String Quartet in C minor, and works by other composers.
Born into a family of musicians, Gabrielė Beinarytė currently studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and works at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra. She is active as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Music has always been around in her home: her father, Robertas Beinaris, is an acclaimed Lithuanian oboist and mother, Vaida Striaupaitė-Beinarienė, is a composer. The first violin in the Kaunas String Quartet, Karolina Beinarytė-Palekauskienė, is her paternal aunt. The latter quartet is one of the leading classical collectives based in Kaunas. Over more than thirty-five years of its existence, the Quartet has given more than 2,200 appearances in Lithuania and represented Lithuanian music culture abroad to wide acclaim.
