Artistic Director Mindaugas Bačkus
Soloist Martyna Pastuszka (Baroque violin, Poland)
For several years now the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra has been engaged, at the initiative of its artistic director, Mindaugas Bačkus, in Baroque music performance through annual master classes where orchestra musicians receive week-long training in stylistic and technical aspects of performance from the renowned specialists in early music, as well as through the use of period instruments in its performances. This year orchestra musicians will have an opportunity to work with the internationally acclaimed Baroque violin player from Poland, Martyna Pastuszka. She lives in Katowice and teaches at the local music academy. She is also the founding member and artistic leader of the Orkiestra Historyczna. She is often seen perform with various European early music ensembles and orchestras as a soloist and leader.
“We are going to collaborate with a person from a neighbouring country who is one of the best Baroque music specialists in Poland. She will bring along her colleague Anna Firlus who will perform on the harpsichord in concert,” says Bačkus.
We invite you to spend the evening “In the Light of Baroque,” listening to some timeless music written centuries ago and still rarely heard in our latitudes!
