This inconspicuous locale on Karmelicka hosts one of Kraków's best all around venues. Serving as a cafe, wine bar, bistro and shop, Mercatino boasts an unrivalled selection of imported food products primarily from Italy and Sicily, but also Hungary and Poland, including wines, jams, cheeses, meats and much more. The vast interior full of colourful murals not only captures the climate of the Mediterranean, but also offers a taste of its delicacies via the bar with hot and cold tapas, pasta, panini, Italian desserts and even natural ice cream. Wine is served by the glass, carafe or bottle, the coffee is Sicilian, the craft beer is local and the spritzers are perfect. Before you have a seat inside, however, you must wind your way through the back of the shop into Kraków's most glorious garden. Glowing green and full of flowers, ivy and even grapevines, with narrow pathways, a small stream and footbridge, relax in a hammock or find some shade under the pergola or gazebo. Quiet, intimate and immaculate, there is no better place for a morning coffee or evening dram than this. They even organise occasional vernissages, concerts and other cultural events, both indoors and out. A far sight easier and even more magical than a trip to the old country, we really can't recommend it enough.
