Jagiellonian University Professors' Garden

  ul. Jagiellońska 15 ,   Old Town          (+48) 12 663 13 07     more than a year ago
Records first mention a garden and orchard here all the way back in 1467, at which time it was twice as large, and provided fresh fruits and vegetables for the college refectory. Evolving over the centuries before falling into neglect, the 'JU Professors' Garden' was restored and opened to the public in 2010. Planted with bushes and flowers, and scattered with benches, this small park isn't anything more than a pleasant diversion and place to relax, though there are several sculptures and a few educational exhibits, namely a sundial and armillary sphere (with descriptions in English). In summer a painted passageway is opened, connecting it directly to the courtyard of Collegium Maius.
