The Summer Solstice marks the shortest night of the year. In Poland, it is not as extreme as the Nordic countries, but it is still a noticeable difference for those from countries closer to the middle of the Earth. There are many events recognising this day and one is atop Krakus Mound in Podgórze. There will be traditional wreaths weaved to set in the river, food, and bonfires to sacrifice to the God of the Sun. The organisers do ask to bring food, candles, and to dress in white to mark the occasion.
