The two artists, Carolina Caycedo and Zofia Rydet investigate in their artworks environmental issues relating to water, land, and air. Environmental degradation affects us all but it is the cruelest to the most vulnerable social groups, such as women, migrants, refugees, children, people with disabilities and elders. Yet, it is often women who are the most vocal protesters, calling for action to remedy specific problems that local communities face in relation to health and security. Carolina Caycedo creates objects, films, drawings, books, and performances that address these problems. Zofia Rydet's photographs document traditional ways of life that had disappeared as Poland was undergoing a process of modernisation. Both artists' work is a tribute to women’s engagement in defending the natural environment.
