Mad Giant brings together science and an immense love of beer – the brand’s co-founder, Eben Uys, is a chemical engineer whose thorough understanding of froth has made its way into scientific journals. While the craft brewery is located in the 1 Fox Precinct (unfortunately the taproom and restaurant there is closed) in Ferreirasdorp downtown, Mad Giant now has a taproom bar at Delta Central in Blairgowrie.

All Mad Giant beers are dry-hopped - an expensive and time-consuming brewing technique that results in a high quality beer packed with a memorable aroma and flavour. To get that summer feeling, try the weiss beer Electric Light (tropical fruit notes of passionfruit and banana) or The Guzzler, a crisp, dry and hoppy pilsner. The experts say it is notoriously difficult to produce but we found it a particularly easy beer to drink.

Pair your beer with one of the dishes from their impressive smoker. We loved the smokey roasted sweet potatoes
