This exhibition will present the art collection of Moscow philanthropist Sergei Shchukin and his brothers. The collection encompasses the most important artistic trends of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, from impressionism to modernism, and includes masterpieces by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.

The exhibition will also tell the dramatic story of the Shchukins, a family of Moscow merchants, their unprecedented power, and their decline after the revolution of 1917. The Shchukin family history will be illustrated by great masterpieces of art: impressionist and modernist paintings, unique pieces of Eastern art, works of the old masters, and 18th century French furniture.
