Viva la Vida: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera

12:00–21:00       Manezhnaya pl. 1
share
Central exhibition hall Manezh hosts an exhibition of works by celebrated Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Considered radical even today for their social and ideological perspectives, Frida’s self-portraits and paintings are renowned for their unabashed depiction of Mexico’s cross-cultural identity, the experience of pain and adversity, personal loss, class and race in their distinctive folk-art style. Two of her most affective pieces – The Broken Column and Henry Ford Hospital – will be exhibited, as will Rivera’s never before seen ‘Russian drawings’ from a visit to the USSR in 1956.
