Viva la Vida: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera

Dec 21 - Feb 25 2019       Manezhnaya pl. 1
Moscow will soon be host to an installation of works by celebrated Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Considered radical even today for their social and ideological perspectives, Frida’s self-portraits and paintings are renowned for their unabashed depiction of Mexico’s cross-cultural identity, the experience of pain and adversity, personal loss, class and race in their distinctive folk-art style. Two of her most affective pieces – The Broken Column and Henry Ford Hospital – will be exhibited, as will Rivera’s never before seen ‘Russian drawings’ from a visit to the USSR in 1956.
