Barbara & Stanisław Ptak Museum (MHK)

This small branch of the Katowice Historical Museum (MHK) - also unnecessarily and misleadingly known as the MHK 'Theatre & Film Department' - occupies the former flat of Barbara and Stanisław Ptak, and presents their artistic and private lives to visitors. Barbara (1930-2025) was a renowned costume designer for the Silesian Theatre and Polish film industry, and many of her original designs and outfits, as well as extensive photographs and video documentation of her performances, are on view. Her husband, Stanisław (1951-2002), was also a well-loved actor and singer, and their colourful apartment is filled with mementoes of their life together, including family photos, career awards and recognitions, personal items and other curiosities.
