St. Carlo Borromeo Church

Designed by Henryk Marconi, and built between 1841 and 1849, this glorious building was modelled on the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica in Rome. Miraculously it escaped WWII virtually intact, with only the presbytery sustaining damage. Subject to recent work to restore the figures of the apostles that stand outside, this sits up there alongside Warsaw’s top churches.
