In contrast to the photos we are typically bombarded with of politicians and plastic barbie dolls, Jan Kurek spent most of his time taking photos of the ignored parts of society. During the years of 1967-69, he documented the lives of people who were of no importance to the agenda of the day. As a television operator, he knew the reasons for putting out only the correct message and the imagery that was supposed to accompany it. The exhibition "Unimportant Scenes" will showcase the rural daily happenings of the people who deal with matters that seem to always be pushed aside in the records of history.
