Located in an historic building on Old Riga’s main pedestrian street, Open offers a unique dining concept. All of the food and drink on offer here is supposedly provided at cost, without any mark-up. A flat admission fee (€2 weekdays 12:00 - 17:00, €4 - 5 evenings and weekends) is added to your bill, but the restaurant only charges what it cost to buy and prepare all of the pizzas, ramen bowls, pastas, steaks and burgers as well as the beer, wine and cocktails. The menu also cheekily lists the average price of what the dish or drink would cost at a similar establishment. But this isn’t a no-frills cafeteria. The owners have also paid attention to the décor, which includes designer lamps, a herringbone parquet floor and unique wooden tiles on the walls.
