This fascinating exhibition is dedicated to the unsung heroes who tirelessly conserve and restore distressed works of art and historical artefacts. From Past to Future. The Conservator’s Workshop will display 130 items that have been saved from ruin by 80 of Latvia’s best art restorers in the past few decades. Among the most interesting exhibits, some of which are rarely ever seen, are restored paintings, a fragment from a model of the Brothers’ Cemetery by Kārlis Zāle from the 1930s and a 13th-century parchment where Riga’s founder, Bishop Albert (1165 - 1229), arbitrates a dispute between the Bishop of Courland and the Teutonic Order. The items on display are on loan from Latvian museums and churches as well as the Latvian National Library and the Latvian National Archives. Images courtesy of the LNMM - www.lnmm.lv
