Under the motto “Life is LIVE”, the delayed 13th edition of the Antistatic International Festival for Contemporary Dance and Performance will now take place in Sofia during October and November.
The programme includes a variety of different events and tickets for all performances are on sale online at EPAYGO.bg
“With the inherent power given to the number 13, the 13th edition of 'Antistatic' politely demands life to safely get back on track, so that we can all return to where we want to be: artists on stage, and audiences together with us in the performance space. We invite you to shut down your screens, at least for a little while, and to meet up LIVE outside the world wide web. To ensure a smooth and fulfilling adaptation process, the 2020 edition of 'Antistatic' will take place as a series of different events throughout October and November“ the artists Iva Sveshtarova, Willy Prager and Stephan A. Shtereff, organisers of the festival, have shared.
Life Goes On LIVE with Antistatic International Festival: 6 Days, 16 Bulgarian and International Performances
The International Artistic Programme of the festival brings to Bulgaria for the first time the renowned choreographers Akemi Takeya (Japan/Austria), Jeremy Wade (USA/Germany) and Willi Dorner (Austria). From 6th to 8th November, the second “Bulgarian Dance Platform” of the festival will take place, presenting 13 works of the artists Aleksandar Georgiev, Anna Dankova, Darío Barreto Damas, Galina Borissova, Iva Sveshtarova, Ivo Dimchev, Jivko Jeliazkov, Marion Darova, Mila Iskrenova, Rossen Mihailov, Stephan A. Shtereff, Stephanie Handjiiska, Willy Prager, Zhana Pencheva - in the span of 50 hours across 3 different stages in Sofia.
2nd November 19:30 at “Derida” Stage
Akemi Takeya will perform her piece “Lemonixm X Actionism”, in which she confronts Actionism with her idea of “Lemonism”. In her cosmic and artistic world, situated also between European and Japanese cultures, “Lemonism” focuses on the body as material of “the I” including 72 items, each of which is represented on the stage by one lemon. Stepping on it, Takeya sets up a battle between the two concepts, during which she adapts and re-enacts the strategies of Actionism
4th November 19:30 at “Derida” Stage
Time to meet the tireless extreme performer Jeremy Wade, whose work is always thought-provoking. “Glory” was the first performance he created as a young choreographer in New York City in parts starting in 2003 and reworking it in the last decades. This time he revisits the piece in collaboration with the Swedish dancer and choreographer Sindri Runudde, creating “a naked nauseous hybrid of emotional, physical and behavioral noise where morphing, crashing and ticking became the technical lexicon to shatter gestural polarities of shame, remorse and abjection.”
5th November 19:00 DNK – Space for Contemporary Dance and Performance
A chance to experience the work of the famous Austrian choreographer Willi Dorner, coming with his stage performance for two dancers “one”. While the starting point of the piece is the „one word poems“ by Heinz Gappmayr, the artists in the performance space play with words and images supported by live-cam and blackboard, in an attempt to see how thought might possibly look.
6th November is the first day of the “Bulgarian Dance Platform”
Lovers of the performing-arts are invited to see the productions: „Corpus Meum“ (Concept and Choreography: Marion Darova), „Perfectly Pink“ (Concept and Realization: Iva Sveshtarova), „Synthetics“ (Concept and Choreography: Jivko Jeliazkov) and „How Fast Life Flies from January to December“ (Concept and Realization: Galina Borissova).
The program continues with the screening of the movie, shot during the first presentation of the performance “Nonument” (Authors and Concept: Stephan A. Shtereff and LIGNA) at Buzludzha Peak, followed by the productions “Ada Lovelace” (Director: Anna Dankova), “The Afternoon of a Faun” (Choreography: Mila Iskrenova), “Lunch On The Grass with a Faun” (Concept and Choreography: Rossen Mihailov) and “Made for Happiness” (Concept and Performance: Iva Sveshtarova and Willy Prager).
The 13th edition of “Antistatic” Festival wraps up with a final dose of four performances, including “Moonlight” (Choreography and Performance: Aleksandar Georgiev and Darío Barreto Damas), “Soft Questions” (Choreography and Performance: Stephanie Handjiiska), “Six Love Songs” (Choreography and Performance: Zhana Pencheva) and Ivo Dimchev LIVE concert.
