"Aesthetics of Disgrace" Eliezer Alcheh 1908 - 1983.
Following from the large retrospective exhibition organised on the centenary of his birth in 2008 at the National gallery in Sofia, the curators of the exhibition offer their insight into the past of the Bulgarian artist, who left Bulgaria in 1928 to study Fine Arts in Munich. He spends much time travelling and living around Europa and Palestine, reflected in his paintings, before returning to Bulgaria and joining a group of young influential artists. After the disruption of the 2nd World War, Alcheh eventually emigrates to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The exhibition is organised by the Sofia City Art Gallery in official partnership with the Embassy of the Argentine Republic, the Faculty of History at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria “Shalom” and under the patronage of H.E. Ambassador Alberto A.M. Trueba, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of the artist Eliezer Alcheh.
