PGS Sopot presents a unique exhibition of experimentation with abstract screenprints combined with animated projections and mobile app interactivity. The talent behind "Free surfaces" is Monika Reut, a Portugal-based Polish artist, who garnered attention for her unique practice as a result of winning the 3rd Pomeranian Art Triennial in the Intermedia category. In a straightforward description, one would simply describe abstract forms on a screen-print overlayed with visual projections or with the use of a mobile app scanner in order to achieve liquid-esque forms. However, there is a deeper sense hidden underneath all of the artist's actions. The presentation can be seen as an abstract analysis of today's reality, which is rushing into the unknown, often superficial, lacking the space to stop and reflect, and to try to find our place in it. While the screen-print may be 'fixed', the overlaying media give the sense of seemingly infinite possibilities and complex forms playing with each other. An individual work presents a composition of shapes, however, it also contains numerous individual forms that seemingly act on their own. They create their own, infinite, constantly changing universe, of which the author encourages the audience to explore and observe.
