American portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz, recognised for the perspicacity of her work, has personally donated a collection of photographs to the State Hermitage Museum’s Department of Contemporary Art. First establishing herself as the chief photographer of Rolling Stone magazine in the 70s, cultivating a distinctive style of celebrity portraiture, Annie went on to shoot for fashion industry beacons Vogue and Vanity Fair. As well as capturing music, fashion and film icons, politicians, civic activists and members of royalty also number among her many subjects.
