Art Objects at New Holland Island

Jun 4 - Oct 31 2019       Nab. Admiralteiskogo kan. 2

This summer several notable art objects will appear at New Holland Island again. All the projects will be united by the theme of the relationship between humans and the environment. So, on the island there will be obvious neon installation from Alicia Eggert You are (on) an Island — a statement about our place in the world; the Commandant's House will be attacked by 52 huge snails by the international art group Cracking Art made of recycled plastic; and the mechanical swans and woodpeckers by Berlin media artist Marco Barotti will remind us of human influence on wildlife.

The inner basin of the island will also not be empty — this year it will be occupied by sculptures similar to the giant leaves of tropical water lilies Victoria amazonica, rare and unique plants under threat of extinction.
