The exhibition of icons from the 17th to the early 20th centuries is a new entry at the Museum of Russian History of St. Petersburg and the first icon exhibition at the museum. The collection, featuring more than 50 icons produced in different cities in Russia, will guide the visitors through a two-century journey into the imperial period of Russian iconography. The icons displayed differ widely from one another in scale and function, and vary from large cathedral images to chamber family icons.
