Under the tutelage of Russian avant-garde greats Malevich, Chagall, Lissitzky and Dobuzhinsky at the Vitebsk Art School, Lazar Khidekel the first architect of Suprematism was born. With Malevich’s guidance, Khidekel took the principles of geometric abstraction and dynamics, discovered his preferred themes of concentric circles and diagonal compositions and structurally transformed them into concrete objects. This temporary exhibit of over 80 works has been made possible by Khidekel’s family’s private collection and will feature designs of projects both realized and imagined.
