Russian Maslenitsa at Peter and Paul Fortress

Sunday Mar 10 12:00–17:00       Petropavlovskaya krepost 3

Traditionally, the biggest celebrations will take place in the heart of St. Petersburg, in Peter and Paul Fortress. Immediately after the Midday Shot on the square near Naryshkin Bastion there will be music performances and folk fun, treats, and, of course, lots of pancakes.

Folk bands and handicraft masters will entertain the citizens: teach everyone to make the Maslenitsa Doll (a miniature scarecrow), create engravings or color the decorative hares. The burning of a three-meter Maslenitsa scarecrow will be the culmination of the holiday. This year it will be created together with the ethnographers to match the historical prototype.
