In the 19th century, in the small concert hall of the museum-apartment of the legendary Samoilov family, Dargomyzhsky, Rubinstein and Auer played their concerts. Today, the tradition is continued by the Mariinsky theatre artists. Orchestra and opera soloists perform compositions by Tchaikovsky, Cui, Rimsky-Korsakov, Medtner, Rachmaninoff and prominent foreign composers whose music is connected with Russia and St. Petersburg.
The cultural program of Russian Music Gems is not only about music: guests of the museum are greeted with a glass of champagne and invited on a tour. During the tour the keepers talk about the dynasty of talented actors of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the traditions of the Russian nobility and the legends of the Russian ballet. By the way, the apartment of the Samoilovs is included in the 'Top St. Petersburg Museums' list of National Geographic magazine.
December 30 Program: masterpieces by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Rossini, Verdi and more performed by Anna Shulgina (soprano), Maya Krivchenya (mezzo-soprano), Carlos D’Onofrio (tenor) and Ekaterina Venchikova (piano).
