This is an exhibition of the work of one of the leading artists at the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory which broadens the customary impression of porcelain as an everyday item. Tatiana Chapurgina’s designs come to porcelain from fabrics, fashion and architecture. Her sphere of interests includes the complex technique of underglaze painting: large vases for spacious modern interiors, designer furniture with porcelain insets, monumental decorative carpet panels and a collection of porcelain dresses and accessories. For over fifteen years the artist has been making the fragile fabric for her works from thousands of porcelain paillettes. She is an outstanding fashion designer, constantly adding new experimental designs to her collection.
