Driving to Albania is an option now that the roads have greatly improved. The unusual visa arrangement at Albania’s road borders, in which handing over a few euros in exchange for a stamp in your passport was necessary in order to get into the country, was recently abandoned and the biggest headaches now involve the possibility of long queues and the fact that not all borders are open around the clock.
