Old Velenje

Stari Trg     more than a year ago
Thanks to the massive feat of urban planning and engineering that was undertaken here in the 1950s, Velenje is often referred to as the 'youngest town' in Slovenia. However, Velenje actually dates back to at least the mid-13th century, when it was first mentioned in the historical records. Nowadays, much of what constituted this small market town can still be seen along the streets to the west of Villa Bianca, and winding up the road to the castle past the parish Church of St Mary.
