This year's festival's repertoire will be enriched by a performance of special importance to Lithuanian theater creators and fans, marking the memory of the Lithuanian theater genius Eimuntas Nekrošius. The theatrical interpretation of Franz Kafka's piece A Hunger Artist will be performed in the courtyard of the Palace of the Grand Dukes on the 16th of July.
A Hunger Artist is one of the last short stories of the Austrian writer summarizing his entire creative work, ethical and aesthetic attitudes, and approach towards life. Paradoxically, this production was one of the most personal and marked by subtle autoirony on the creative path of Eimuntas Nekrošius.
The main role of the Hunger Artist will be performed by Viktorija Kuodytė, acting in E. Nekrošius productions since 1994. She will be assisted on stage by Vaidas Vilius, Vygandas Vadeiša and Genadijus Virkovskis who will create witty characters fro the artist's life.
