Realized in cooperation with three Japanese museums, this is a rare exhibition of avant-garde art from post-WWII Japan. The displayed works of art, stemming from a time of political turbulence and rapid change, include paintings by so-called reportage painters (avant-garde realists), photographs from the Vivo collective, and works by members of art groups such as Jikken Kōbō, the Democratic Artists Association, the Gutai Art Association and Kyūshū-ha.
