Wojciech Weiss (1875-1950) was a talented painter of the Młoda Polska movement, and also a resident of Podgórze at the end of the 19th century - an influential time in both his life and the life of the city, before Podgórze was joined with Kraków across the river. Moving to Podgórze with his parents as a young man, Weiss first lived near the Płaszów train station, then Stare Podgórze. This exhibit allows the viewer to closely examine his early artistic works as he was honing and defining his style, but also to go on a symbolic journey to the Podgórze of over a century ago, when the wealthy and independent city was truly in its heyday. Through his eyes as rendered on canvas the viewer will see many familiar local landmarks as they looked years ago, but also many lost views and fragments of the city.
