Agnieszka Sejud is a photographer and visual artist, a member of the younger generation of Poles who are often disturbed by the present state of this once very hospitable nation. Many ignorant Poles are devoured by xenophobia, looking back with nostalgia to the "good old days of Poland for Poles". Obsessed with wrongly understood patriotism Poles build kitschy altars meant to reinforce the feeling of solidarity. The altar has become the leading metaphor, referring to a superficial religiousness dominated by selfishness. In Sejud’s distorting mirror, everybody is praying at their own altar, thinking in a short term and looking after their own interests.
