The Bravest Knight is a children's opera composed by Krzysztof Penderecki (Polish contemporary composer) with the libretto written by the beloved Polish novelist, poet and screenplay writer, Ewa Szelburg-Zarembina. It is the story of a simple scarecrow who wants to befriend reluctant poppies. When an invasion of sparrows is imminent, the scarecrow has an opportunity to defend poppies henceforth becoming a hero. The Bravest Knight is the classic example of a story with a moral reminding the audience that " you should not judge a book by its cover".
