Lucas Cranach the Elder (c. 1472–1553) was a German Renaissance painter and printmaker who primarily produced portraits of German princes, Protestant Reformation leaders, and various religious and mythological subjects. His close ties to the values associated with the Protestant Reformation kindled a close friendship with Martin Luther. Commemorating the 500th anniversary of the publication of Martin Luther's Ninety-Five Theses, this exhibition presents paintings, drawings, and prints to have come out of Wrocław and Silesia during the 16th century Protestant Reformation.
