Of all the fishing ponds we've visited in Slovenia, this one may very well be our favourite - and we're not just saying that because they gave us a free bottle of their homemade fishing beer. The facilities boast slides and swings for younger children, a basketball court for older ones and actual horseshoes for the older set. The pond, or should we say ponds, are the central attraction though. Fed by the clear cool water from a nearby karst spring, there's a small pond where anyone is welcome to catch their own meal, and a larger pond for more serious catch-and-release sport fishing. In addition to baked, grilled and smoked trout, they also offer roasted lamb and complimentary side dishes, but the kitchen is only open Friday through Sunday (or by special arrangement for larger groups).
