On November 12, 1918, shortly after the end of World War I, over 250,000 workers across the country went on strike. After three days, the strike was called off due to pressure from the strong military contingent in Switzerland’s major cities. On the occasion of the general strike’s 100th anniversary, the National Museum in Zurich is holding an exhibition that examines the causes, progression and aftermath of this serious crisis in the fledgling federal state.
