Wielkopolska Uprising Scouts' Monument

ul. Wiankowa (Nowe Miasto) ,   Lake Malta         more than a year ago

A short walk on from the Freedom Mound, the Scouts Monument was designed by Wawrzyniec Kaim to honour those scouts who died in the Wielkopolska Uprising. The memorial was unveiled in 1937 but didn't survive for very long - within a few years it had been destroyed by the Nazis and its sculptor murdered in Auschwitz. A new monument was placed in the same spot in 1992, but it wasn't actually finished until 2013.
