Red Army Cemetery [Cmentarz żołnierzy Armii Czerwonej]

Moved to its current location at the far southern end of Park im. Tadeusza Kościuszki to make way for the city-centre Silesian Insurgents’ Monument in 1967, this small Red Army Cemetery is surprisingly well kept compared to similar cemeteries in Poland. The final resting place of about 300 Soviet soldiers who gave their lives in the 'liberation' of Katowice from the Germans in 1945, check out the hammer and sickle fence around the perimeter and the small memorial in the centre regularly garnished with fresh flowers.
